Some thoughts from the artist:

As an artist with a significant bent towards depression, I had historically tried to only create out of beauty and joy. Creating was where I tried to come alive. The fear that my anger would become too big if I used it to create was THICK. I was terrified that I'd get lost in it. That the Abyss would swallow me.
One day, the anger became too much and I had to let it out. It activated action and I ran towards the Abyss. It was as if the tide had turned and I would be suffocated if I did not create, if I did not let it all out through art.
Some pain is too deep for words.
Through creating pieces like this one, I found myself. I found a fierceness and power I had let be stifled. I found freedom from shame, from fear, and from the ugliest piece of my story. I found that pain and rage can produce Beauty.

I found myself in my art.

These pieces awakened me to the power of art IN and THROUGH me. They have quieted fears, are a balm to the deepest wounds, and have breathed liberation into my being.
