Some thoughts from the artist:

On a whim, I bought myself some carnations. I don't like carnations. But the color of these flowers caught my eye and home they came with me.

For days I simply enjoyed those flowers, placed casually below our tv. Nothing special or compelling about them.

Then one day, I saw the way the light came through the window and played with the vase, the brass cigar holder, the wall, the flowers, and the urge to create was undeniable. I seriously HAD to paint them.

Looking back, it never occurred to me that a stroll through the grocery store, and the impulse buy of some $2.99 ordinary blooms, would stir such a creativity and awaken a such need in me to capture some simple beauty.

I am learning to trust my impulses - the results are delightful.
